Very Windy but warmer temps

Well after getting snow night before last and seeing sunshine yesterday the winds started picking up during the day and have continued to get stronger overnight warming things up a bit to 40 degrees, the snow is blowing into drifts but it is the only snow flying right now. We are having gust to 37 mph but sustained winds of over 13 mph this should help the snow we have received to bond to the base we already have, with these winds there are possible trees down on the trail so it could be interesting. We hiked out to the TH parking lot and found out they groomed last night so there might not be any trees on the trail. Hopefully it will get as cold as forecast 22 tonight which would set things up nicely for the races this weekend. Be careful if you get out there in the snow today. Peace

Got Snow now it's warm again

We got 3" of snow yesterday and even though the temps stayed below 19 all day this morning it is 32 and windy so the snow is blowing some at least it's a nice cushion on top of the base we already had from the last 2 weeks. Get out and enjoy the POW. Peace

Well it's snowing lightly

Well no new snow overnight, but it is snowing lightly right now, it's 17 and not really any other changes to mention, just that the snow we got is very slick, get out and enjoy it.

Baby it's Cold outside

Good morning, it's 1.5 degree this morning, clear skies, no new snow since the 2.5" yesterday of baby fine POW, just enough to cover the hoar frost we've had all week. The snow is still very hard packed almost icy in areas I was told. Another great day to get out and enjoy the sunshine & snow, not enough to carve but enough to cushion the ride and keep those sleds cooled down. Peace

Finally some new POW

Good Morning we got snow, well not alot 2.5" of baby fine POW fell last night which might just make for a nice softer ride out here. It's 17 degrees the snow is almost done and the sun is trying to poke through. With not having snow for almost 2 weeks it was becoming very icy in places so this should cushion a walk or ride. There is plenty of big hoar frost under this new snow which could make it very slippery so be careful, but get out and enjoy the sunshine and new POW. Peace

This morning it got down to 7 degrees which is really cold but the sun is shining and bright. The snow is hard packed with hoar frost .5" tall everywhere. Get out and enjoy it but you might want to bundle up for the cold.

Another Beautiful Day in Paradise

Woke up this morning to another chilly 11 degee morning but the sun is out the road here is groomed to Chikamin and very fast, the snow is hard packed and many places are accessable that normally aren't at this time of year. Get out and enjoy these conditions but you will need ice scratchers for some sleds. Peace

For all of those mushers training for the Cascade Quest Sled Dog race, the road conditions to Trinity are very nice very hard, fast and groomed to Chikamin, the rest of the way was groomed last week but the freezing thawing cycle has set it up nicely, icy in places. Don't waste it use it.

Baby it's Cold outside...

This morning we have clear skies the sun is shining, no new snow, and 18 degrees, the snow is hard packed and the road to Trinity is fast but you need to have ice scratchers or liquid cooled engine sleds. These are Apr/May conditions in January. Peace

Pineapple Express

This morning we woke up to 49 degrees, strong winds, no new snow and they did groom all the way here last night and our snow level is below 4' on gauge. Snow is compact in places but you can post hole if not careful and it is glazed and very slick.

What the Snow Conditions are Currently

No new snow at Trinity since last Friday and that snow was very wet and heavy. We are compacted to just over 4' right now but should make a nice base. Road not groomed since Dec 30, possible slides and downed trees since no sledders have been here since last Tues. This will be updated daily for those wanting to ride out here but prefer a groomed trail than breaking trail especially since this macro-climate is so different from what it is like at Fish Lake.
